Re: Runwaker announce Embergarde
It looks OK, but these games tend to get boring very quickly. Is there anything different about this game that'll help to hold interest? Or is it just another campaign that you play through over and over again on harder difficulties?
Re: Runwaker announce Embergarde
I don't think it is clear at this point it is still alpha but I think also it will be like that Diablo and PoE are more or less the same.
I found this video about this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ERTEblf3mo
D2 was very good because you weren't forced to play online if you aren't want to do it which gave you also the opportunity to tweak your own gear(and yeah I know and cheat a level 99 char) in some twisted way similar to Minecraft.
To be true I never played D3 but with it and PoE and DSO(ans some others) I would say the market for games like this is full, those are low budget MMO's in compare to ROM and DP and so they are many. The only way to success would be doing things very differently than they others or combine things in way they weren't before.

Re: Runwaker announce Embergarde
It seems it is nearly out at least they went through closed beta some months ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K15cImPZN5U
What changed the most is that it seems to be no fully open world like in DP or ROM but Diablo classic. Seems they learned at least one thing.
The skill system seem to be crap if I look at the screens you press the + button and they go from left to right absolute linearly all Diablo version I know have a better system either free or a tree.
The MMORPG market seems after AA wasn't what most player desired really be crashed or others said the MMORPG bubble popped silently beside the whole merge stuff in AA and that most of their staff changed we had:
First last fall Infernum the publisher(GB/DE) of Dragon Prophet went through bankruptcy they are back but it certainly wasn't nice. I can add that DP would have been a hit if the graphic would have been better, bugs and balancing better taken care off and the developer hadn't such a bad reputation to begin with for not caring about bugs and balancing.(and a better story)
Neverwinter lost also a lot of their players since Icewind Dale, P2W and adding stuff which isn't wanted by the players/community and don't bring basic stuff like housing other PvP maps was its downfall. It is not as bad as DP but the team has shrank considerably.
ESO Online open their gates to f2p also this spring but I don't know really what happened around it
ROM and RW/GF also looks a bit desperate their contracts ends about 2016/17 but the new 'private server' seems more highly official I can only guess that GF lost its exclusive license for ROM, GF servers also started to merge with is bit late with less than 100 players per server. The new anti-cheat features seems to be a bit of thrown money out of the window.
Like I said on top with whale-tactic f2p they won't get any players for this new MMO when PoE is with mico-payment or you can buy D3. The other thing is RW has rarely any good story in terms of atmosphere and Diablo and PoE lifes from it and the goose bumps it gives you
