Crash on running rom\bot.lua? Halp!

Hey, I just started trying to configure this bot script to run with this game, and I sort of managed to get it working on one of my chars but when I try to run it on an old char (that I havent played on in about 6-7 months) it seems that the game just crashes some time after executing the script... this is how it looks;

(note skill name's censored out)
And at that point, the game is completely unresponsive (note, all those bagID's have items on them).

Just update to current SVN. I included a wrong check today and corrected it in the last SVN.

All SVN applications I'm trying to install, all installations 'end prematurely' and don't want to install for some reason :S
I'll just manually get the files from
http://rom-bot.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/rom

lol. Strange. I use Tortoise SVN without any problems. Sometimes you have to delete 'red marked' files to avoid conflicts. Hope your problem with the bot is now gone?

I manually downloaded the files from the url I mentioned and replaced all those that I were using before.
Nothing changed, game still crashes when I attempt to run the bot.

Could you post more of your MM window content. Before and after the yellow updare messages?
EDIT: I saw in your screenshot a 'Timeout' from the macro function. That could happen If you don't define your ingame dummy macro (but the bot should not start if you don't do) or if your press and hold a modifier like CTRL/ALT/SHIFT while the bot is running.

Yellow.. what message?
Game freezes when I hit the delete button to resume/start the script.

Ahh. ok. Other reason. Delete your RoM settings for that character in 'my documents/runes of magic'. The macro file seems to be corrupt.

Thank you!
Deleting the Macro.bsd file in my documents\runes of magic\charname\ folder worked, and the script is now working perfectly!
Also, is there any way to stop my character from casting urgent heal after regenerate? (edit; nvm, hpper, fixed)
THANKS FOR AN AMAZING BOT! I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE I'M NOT FORCED TO PAY FOR THIS

When did it use them? Did you move any of your inventory around while starting or running the bot?

Oo. I suppose you are running the l1-10' demo profile? That's designed to do the character classhall run for getting new arcane transmutor energy. And by doing that, the 'openGiftbags1To10();' function in the profile opens the Level 1-10 giftbags and at level 9 consumes a fruit. I don't account, that someone would use that for botting up a 'normal' character.

But you have two apples. So still one left. lol

I was not running the l1-10 demo profile, I have in fact never run any of the pre-existing waypoint profiles.
Also something I found out about pot cooldowns; it completely ignores the profile settings for it because;
- in player.lua the string if( os.difftime(os.time(), self.PotionLastUseTime) < settings.profile.options.POTION_COOLDOWN+1 ) then
is commentated out and if( os.difftime(os.time(), self.PotionLastUseTime) < 15+1 ) then
is used instead, for some reason...
And again, thanks for an amazing bot with such open code and free availability- these
bugs are very petty compared to even the most expensive bot for any other game
Also it wasnt an Apple, it was a Cherry... I think... "Fruit of Extra Experience" (I can't find anything in any code about any fruit at all though, or experience...)

I can't recall completely, I THINK it was after I started a custom made waypoint I just created, that or I was maybe on wander- either one of those two.
And I just noticed "hmm what's that buff" and then noticed it was my +50% exp buff
Also, you wouldnt happen to know where in the code I should be looking if I want to try to alter the rate at which it attempts to cast certain attacks? I think my grinding efficiency could be increased by a lot if I'd manage to make it try to attack a few times leading up to (and including) when it does now to take advantage of my latency/hardware~

Then there is no place where the bot will use your exp potions/fruits. Do you have your exp stuff at an action button? If you have that and perhaps have assigned a hotkey with a modifier (e.g. like CTRL+Q) to your experience fruit and a hotkey Q for one of your normal skills. Then it could happen, that if you press the CTRL key while working in an other window that the RoM client get the keypress CTRL+Q by mistake.

There was the thought that all potions have a cooldown from 15? It is more flexible to use the option, so I changed it back to use the POTION_COOLDOWN option if you want. The default is still 15(+1). It is in SVN 327.

I do not really understand your point completly. The skills are used in 'rounds'. All skills in your profile are checked one after another if your are usable (check the cooldown, the options, ...). And if the bot reach the last skill he starts again with the first one. As a melee the bot is using parallel to the skills the general attack key every 2 seconds (player.lua line 460).
So please write again what you want to do, what's your intention.

Well yeah but, I still find it pretty odd that you have the option in the settings for the profile, but later use a static number and comment out the option string.
Either way, yea pots have cooldown of 15, but the pots I use atm give a "mana over time" effect that is 30 seconds long, I found it much more economical and more suitable for certain mobs or grind/farm areas to let it tick the full effect instead of letting my character spam away, and again depending on which type of potion I'm using.
Although at the same time I don't feel all that safe that I'm putting my HP pots on a 30sec CD at the same time...

Well, to put it simply, if I'm in-game and I spam my hotkey to shoot my rising tide, it fires a significantly higher amount of that spell per minute compared to if I let the bot do it- I'm thinking if I can make the bot attempt to fire multiple times (just as I'm doing when I'm spamming the button as the spell is about to go off from the previous cast) that it would increase the fire rate in the same way.
As for latency, I just know from experience with WoW that latency can have a great effect on cast times, so I wasnt sure if the bot was waiting with casts to make room for latency, or whatever
Oh and btw, in the latest default.xml you have
<!-- either false or arrow or thrown --!> and the --!> at the end instead of just --> causes the bot to return an error message when you attempt to run it.
Also, why doesnt my character sit down when the bot is resting to regen mana or HP?

I added two 'expert options':
Code: Select all
<option name="POTION_COOLDOWN_HP" value="30" />
<option name="POTION_COOLDOWN_MANA" value="30" />
You can use them in your profile to have different cooldowns. If they are not set, the general cooldown option will be used. Although I'm not sure if we really need two different one. Because as long as the potion ticks, you should be above your 'take a potion' limit with your mana/hp value. And if not, it seems so be reasonable to take a new one, even if the old one is still ticking.

Yes it could be a little difference by checking the other not usable skills. But I would argue that the lagging is < 100 ms ? Hence you could spam any cast by adding it within your profile into the '<onSkillCast>' event. Here an example with some emergency casts:
Code: Select all
<onSkillCast>
if( 20 > player.HP/player.MaxHP*100 ) then
player:cast("PRIEST_SOUL_SOURCE");
elseif( 30 > player.HP/player.MaxHP*100 ) then
player:cast("PRIEST_HOLY_AURA");
player:cast("PRIEST_URGENT_HEAL");
player:cast("PRIEST_URGENT_HEAL");
end;
</onSkillCast>

The factor though is downtime between mobs and variations in mana usage ("burst" usage of mana that doesnt happen very often, like for example buffs or heals).

I tried that, adding the mechanics to onSkillCast, but that's not what I'm looking for- it's exactly the same if I add anything there, it still waits an eternity between attempting to use attacks/spells and waits much longer after a spell cast is finished than necessary when compared to the spell fire rate of my own buttonmashing.
Oh and yeah sorry for all the quick edits in my post but; any idea why my character doesnt sit down when the bot is resting for mana/hp?

As I said, I could not reproduce that. You could just create a new character, a mage at the pioneer village, and run the bot with
That new little mage will only use the skill 'Flame' and as you hopefully will see, instantly cast it again after a cast is finished. So perhaps it is dependent from the skill you are using? If the skill has a cooldown, you could try to reduce the cooldown within 'database/skills.xml' and check if that helps. Or post your profile?
We don't sit because the most players don't sit if the rest. Or most players don't rest? And if all bot's ingame are sitting for resting that would look a little strange.

buuut .... we could add a option?

So, I'm assuming sitting does nothing for HP/MP recovery rate?
I'm fairly new to this game so I'm still figuring out basics like these
btw, can I setup if checks for target debuffs and stack ammounts to setup decent dps rotations for my knight?
