RoM Bot Info

Hello everyone. Just to get some things out of the way early off, I just found out about this site and I have a few questions, so please bear with me if they're really dumb. First of all, I noticed that the last post on the RoM Bot topic was in 2009, does RoM Bot still work? I read somewhere that it's supposed to automatically update itself, so you don't ever have to download a new version. Is that true? I've used similar looking bots in other games such as Knight OnLine, and Runescape, so I have a little experience with them. From what I've seen it doesn't look that tough to use. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not it is still up to date, seeing as how the last post was in 2009, but I see people posting about it today, so I'm not quite sure. If someone could help me with this I would be very grateful. Sorry again for the noob question lol. Thanks.

did you mean the "RoM bot" topic in announcements?
Last post has this
Administrator wrote:Thread locked; too long and nobody reads it anyways. Post your questions and comments in other threads (and use good thread titles if you are making a new one; I don't want to see any threads named "i need help!!!!!!!!!!1").
kind of says it all really, if thread is locked then no there won't be anymore posts on it lmao

This whole folder is dedicated to the rombot. There are at least a few posts every day and sometimes dozens.
As to the updating, it includes an update.lua script that finds changed memory addresses using patterns. It's not 100% reliable but it's been getting better and better. I'm quite happy to say the current version works with game patch version 5.0.5 and 5.0.4 but probably would work with versions as low as 5.0.1 (untested). So the idea is if there is a patch the bot can update itself correctly. If it can't then we devs usually have an updated rombot committed within a couple of days. This is a very active forum.
I would say the big downside to this forum for newbies is that the rombot wiki is VERY out of date. I want to update it one day but the difficulty of editing the wiki format puts me off. I think in about 6 months there will be an official wysiwyg type editor available and maybe then the Administrator might be convinced to implement it. Then I'd definitely update it.
