How do you run multi clients on one machine

#1 Post by fred55555 » Fri Oct 15, 2010 2:46 pm

Was just wondering how does it work.

Do you just launch the game then bot and start p the macro then move to launch another clien and do the same or are there some little tweeks and tricks you need to setup in order to run muliple clients
i think my machine can do it have a amdX6 16gig ram 80 solid stat hd and 2tb hd 2x ati 5750's win 7 x64

No, that's pretty much it. Just start up a client (or five), then start the bot script. Select which client that instance of the bot script will be associated with by following the instructions given to you.

Also someone else just posted stats like that, amd x6 (6x3.0) 16g ram. He said he could run 12 without problems which seems crazy to me.

I've ran 14 copies before on my machine. The main problem is your graphics card (as I tend to run things at max quality). Either way, ROM is horribly coded and very, very inefficient. If it weren't for this, I'm sure you could run a minimum of 10 without any problem what-so-ever.

I think these settings did improve my clients stability. Usually my clients crash at least once when i do dailies for all 8 chars. It relogs when it gets all dailies done for one char. Now i am still using that same client to do other farming. I am just testing how long i can use it.

Also memory usage dropped little.

I haven't been keeping upto date on pc hardware recently but it sounds like the x6 is the bees knees currently. Is that right?

Yes I have a projector and an LCD screen. I've had no issues with it.

if you lower all graphical settings down to the lowest, a onboard amd gfx would beat every thing.. Just need computing power a powerfull 4core or even a 6core, lots a ram >8GB voila 12 Clients countinously farming dailis, gathering ore/herbs/wood, farm egg script, lvl-up in differnt areas...
Major update in the last 7 month from frogster helped a lot to keep the clients "alocated ram" smaller. but it will buffer more textures if you roam around with one client.. eg. starting in logar taking a horse and riding manualy to varanas i can see that willst me ridin' the client would take up to 700mb.. if i just enter egg farm in logar it stays below 480mb
which is actually my personal minimum...

I upgraded my machines hardware to run 24/7 RoM with case-fan and silencing modifications :)

Hm... maybe I should move to Win7 64bit with more ram.

I'm worried about compatibility. Does anyone have problems running any of their favorite apps on a 64bit Win7? Or has Win7 64bit 32 emulation improved to a point where it is not an issue anymore? Because in older 64bit os's their were always apps that either didn't run or didn't run properly.

I run 7 ROM Clients on a i7-860 Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system with 8gigs of RAM with no issues.

On my Win 7 x64 machine (AMD quad core @ 3.2GHz, 6GB ram), I have not had any compatibility issues other than very minor things. For example, LoTRO runs fine, but does not support Aero themes (only effects you if you run windowed mode and the only thing it does is give it the "ugly" non-aero window border. No big deal). RoM runs fine.

im running 32 bit still, managed to run 7 clients last night, all dailies. a couple crashed due to that memory error though. pc seems to run ok once they running. i can prob run more clients with eggs only maybe, havent tested.

for rock

I run alot of older 1999-2006 games and they work fine or actually run smoother now on win 7 then on vista. I even found that some of the old games like C&C that wouldnt run very nice on vista runs great on win7

The is also the winxp mode you can run in win7 which is like a vm image within win7 for the really old games and software
so i am down to only one last machine with xp all the others i have updated to win7

over all the move to win7 64 was the best thing for me since xp was released. win7 seems to take care of the memory leaks from rom better than xp and vista

hope that helps
