Deer in the Headlights.

The new forum is nice and clean looking but its just has to much white. I don't see the way to adjust to a more subtle background. Also the full white causes energy use to increase a lot. if you put a watt meter on the monitor you will see its more energy efficient to run a dark background on the pages. Thanks.

Have you tried changing the theme? I think at least 1 of them was dark.

Any modern monitor will use <20 watts. The power difference between a white background and dark background is negligible; if you're trying to save power, you should adjust screen brightness instead.

I thought i had seen a setting for theme but when im in forum and open profile there is not one. Do I need to look somewhere else?

on led screens its about a 33% power savings with darker screen.

That is comparing the brightness (not the color of the image displayed, but the actual brightness of the backlighting in the monitor). That's a completely separate thing.

You can change your theme under the user control panel. Click your name in the top-right corner to access it.

I came across another thread on this topic http://www.solarstrike.net/phpBB3/viewt ... f=6&t=6057

Finaly found the place to change the looks. And all the rest are worse. the green was sort of ok except the banner and footer took of most of the screen. most of the others used a light blue for the background page color that is very bright. Im looking for more of a brown or green that is easier on the eyes. it seems this is hard coded into the page. I guess i will need to use one of the browser adons to change the coding of the board colors for those pages.
Reading on a large monitor near the size of a tv set so much white or light blue is blinding.

As I had pointed out in the other thread, there's not much available for this new version of the forum yet. You're welcome to browse the PHPBB themes and pick out one of your choosing from there and I'll install it (as long as it is compatible).

Something else what I'm missing since forever or [strike] [/strike] BB code since I don't want to repost over and over the same lists to take some stuff out , so I can just edit it when it was wrong or is done.

I Found a Solution to the very bright screen in google chrome. It takes a bit to get used to but i'm starting to love it.
Deluminate
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... nfo-dialog

Deluminate is an extension for Google Chrome (and Chromium) that inverts the luminance of websites to make them easier on the eyes.
Warning: because of the way this extension inverts the luminance of rendered pages, it may cause noticeable slowdowns for some users. If this happens, you may prefer another extension that uses custom CSS to set the default background and text color of web pages.

For the windows itself I found F.lux it changes brightness of windows apps depending on time of day.
