Path for Magical Nautilus Shell?

Hey was curious if anyone had put together a path for the Magical Nautilus Shell quest outside of Varanas? I was looking at it, and i had a question. The only roadblock i can really see is that once you target a Squirrel and use the shell on it, you can still target it again. Is there any way to separate out the squirrels you have already used the shell on and the ones you haven't? Any examples would be great.

If the squirrels don't change, ie. they don't change into a different version of the squirrel, then you could remember the squirrels address and make a custom function that searches for new squirrels while avoiding the old ones.
