Hi, i've installed VMware 10 with windows 7 family on a separate hd, well did change the lines on the file .vmx on main hd, but when I type dxdiag on virtual machine I get as hardware VMware SVGA 3D that's why I guess I can't get passed hackshield but why VMware doesn't detect my GF card ? actualy NVIDIA 560 GTX
so on regedit got SVGA 3D but no point to change it (tried) as it's what I got detected as material.
Any hint or what did I miss not to have my GF card recognized ?
been 3 days on it with various forum info but stuck with hackshield still...

Because you're running dxdiag on the guest, not the host. You are supposed to get the information from the host system, then copy that into the guest.

a more comfortable way to copy the registry entry is to export(host) and import at client.

@admin - recently played with vram settings, no success, the game dont like my vm :-)

Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine

#24 Post by Reign » Sun Nov 23, 2014 1:52 pm

Hi there,

I followed all the steps and notice that when I run DXDIAG in the guest machine I now also get my Graphical card instead of the VMware card.

But still I get this error : Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine.

I installed DX9 from the link provided and restarted the guest with no results..

Anyone have any idea as to why I can't get it to work?

Im running win 8.1. maybe thats the problem?

GrtZ.
And thx in advance.

EDIT : I got it to work by changing the vmx file using this :

isolation.tools.getPtrLocation.disable = "FALSE"
isolation.tools.setPtrLocation.disable = "FALSE"
isolation.tools.setVersion.disable = "FALSE"
isolation.tools.getVersion.disable = "FALSE"
monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "true"

Instead of the provided line of text.

Grtz.

Is that error when you install it or when trying to run the game ?
This is huge difference because when it is the installer it means they updated it so it won't work under a vm.
In this case you need only a working copy.

Go back to the first post and follow the directions. If you do it, it works. If you ignore steps, it doesn't.

And did you modify the .vmx file correctly? If you've done that then I have no idea what to tell you.

Instead of using "GTX 780 Ti" as your DriverDesc, try clearing that out and using an empty string.

Glyph installer is horribly slow on my VM.
Is there a way to copy archeage folder into VM, so glyph wouldn't have to download whole client?

For the question in between my Oracle VM can do that but you need to download an extension for a shared directory.

No, I do the same thing and it works.

Not really. I tried using a shared folder, but the game wouldn't work properly without installing it in the VM (because of how HackShield works--it's a rootkit).

What you've got looks correct. I have no idea what HackShield is detecting or what else you can try.
